Reba Julia Adkisson Jones, 86, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Jefferson City.
Mrs. Jones was born April 12, 1914, in Windrock, the daughter of Edward and Ida Adkisson, who are deceased. She was a 1935 graduate of Wheat High School and was valedictorian of her class.
She was a former resident of Clinton and of Caryville and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Clinton. She had served as secretary/treasurer of her Sunday school class and held various offices in United Methodist Women over the years.
A resident of the Tacora Hills area of Clinton for many years, she was active in the Home Demonstration Club and the Gardening Club. Mrs. Jones was a former member and officer in the Caryville and Clinton chapters of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jones was the widow of Herman Barkstal Jones.
She is survived by her daughters, Janis Long and her husband, Don, of Rockford, Ill., and Judy Tippit and her husband, Tom, of Jefferson City; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Long of Rockford, Ill., David Long and his wife, Liz, of Cambridge Springs, Pa., Scott Long and his wife, Marsha, of Fort Worth, Texas, Shannon McBride and her husband, Brad, of Alcoa and Brian Tippit and his wife, Misty, of Sevierville; and by several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin Adkisson, Lawrence Adkisson and Ernest Adkisson.
The funeral was to be held at 3 this afternoon, April 12, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. John Clark officiating.
Burial was to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
The family was to receive friends from 1 to 3 this afternoon at the funeral home.
